The Randall "Randy" Reedy Memorial Legacy Fund

Randall L Reedy grew up in Linville, Virginia, raising black Angus cattle on the family farm. He also raised a few hogs along the way and enjoyed raising pheasants. His love for farming started at a very young age, and through the years, he did all he could to improve the operations of the farm and its breeding program. He was devoted to improving the genetics of their cattle and became very involved with AI to do so.

Randy was a 1981 graduate of Broadway High School and graduated from Blue Ridge Community College in 1983 with a degree in Animal Husbandry. He was very active in the FFA, winning several awards. At the National FFA convention in 1979, he was awarded 4th High Individual for Poultry Judging. He went on to earn his State Farmer Degree and American Farmer Degree. In 1981, he earned the National Diversified Livestock Proficiency Production Award, which included a three-week, all-expense paid trip to Europe. He was excited to experience farming in other countries. In 1981, he also raised and showed the Supreme Grand Champion Steer at the Rockingham County Fair.

After graduating from BRCC, Randy worked as a salesman for Beery Farm Feeds. He later went on to Rocco Feeds as a dispatcher before working up to Feed Mill Manager. He worked at Rocco, which later became George's Family Foods, for 28 years before moving to Virginia Poultry Growers Coop as Feed Mill Manager in 2013.

In December of 1981, Randy married his high school sweetheart, Shelia. They were able to purchase and renovate a home within the family farm and raise four children. As the children grew, Randy hoped they would have a love for farming just as he did. He hoped that one day they, too, would enjoy raising animals and showing at the county fair. As a result of this, Randy once again became involved with showing. He loved teaching his children the importance of a good feeding program and how to care for their market animals. He was doubly proud when his grandchildren came along, and he was able to start teaching them how to raise market animals.

Randy loved farm life and, through the years, ran a very successful feeder pig operation, a Boer goat operation, and raised broilers for many years.

Randy was always willing to lend a helping hand or offer a few encouraging words when needed.

His motto was...I will never ask you to do what I myself am not willing to do. He followed this not only with his family but also his employees.

Randy's Legacy Fund will produce a scholarship each year.
